Convert DA POINTS to REAL MONEY - Tutorial by ms-villeroy Convert DA POINTS to REAL MONEY - Tutorial by ms-villeroy

Apparently this is kind of an issue here on DA, so here's a short tutorial on how to convert DA Points into real money. <3

If you use this feature you should make sure use the 100p = 1$ system when selling your stuff (adoptables, commissions, etc.) because otherwise you lose quite some money (you do so by using points as a currency in the first place).

I hope this helps!

Feel free to ask questions and distribute this tutorial in any way you like. <3

FAQ

:bulletred: (!!) Can I convert my existing points (which are not shown in my 'Earnings' site) to money?
Technically, you can. But DA has a strict rule against that so if you do this it might get you banned from DA. I personally wouldn't do it.

:bulletred: (!!) Can I convert my existing points (which are not shown in my 'Earnings' site) to money by giving them to a friend and asking them to purchase my stuff (so it goes to my 'Earnings)?
The clever type are we? Yes, technically you can. But still, it might get you both banned from DA. I personally wouldn't do it.

Yes, it's legal :) If you can't use paypall, you can withdraw by check. However, this is a lengthy process, as the check is made in the US, and sent to you by mail.

I think so, but it might take a while. And it's a bit risky. They explain the process on the Earnings page :):

Shop -> Earnings -> Payment Options ->Withdraw by Check

I have a question, would it be ok if i posted a journal asking people to pay real money in exchange for points eg. Anyone would like to trade $2 for 200 points from me ?

I would LOVE to do this.. Buuut there's also the part where all internet browsers offer to "Save Image As" .-.

But I'm certain people that are very supportive to their favourite creator would buy it instead! :D

You can put different stuff in the premium content - that's the whole point of it - even if it's just the same picture without the watermark. Also just saving someone else's adoptables and using them as your own is regarded as stealing.

Oh ok! And thats a good idea! And for those who steal adoptables are also considered douchebags.
But thats really good :D

Does it work by the buyer spending points and you receiving earnings?
Could you convert points you have to money by spending your own points into that button on, say, an alt account? Or would you get banned for that?

I don't really understand the question, sorry. you earn points if you sell things via the commission widget or via the premium content button.

The tutorial says the exact opposite, though. It says to use the commish widget or premium content to convert. So if you use those methods, how does the payment end up in your Earnings balance rather than your points balance? Am I misreading something?

it says to use the commission widget or premium content if you want the points you receive to go to your earnings. But you'll have to wait for a bit until you can withdraw them through your earnings page.

either do it via a commission widget or just upload a picture of that adopt and add the premium content button to it. :)

What if I were to give all the points I have accumulated through donations to a trusted user (irl friend) and than made a widget or premium content download for the price of my donated points I just gave them, so that my donated points are now "legal" am I able to convert those to money now?
Reply
:iconms-villeroy:
ms-villeroy Featured By Owner Apr 8, 2015
any points not accumulated directly via the commission widget or through premium content "cannot" be turned into money. So I think officially donations are not meant to be turned into money. I understand that it's technically doable though (though not "legal") :)

Oh ok the only way you'll be able to do this is if you have a Paypal account? No other options yes? Thanks a lot btw, for this!

|sub>Yes, you'll need Paypal. I don't think they have other options yet. But a Paypal account is free and pretty easy to set up. It makes your life easier if you don't have a credit card (or don't feel comfortable using it online).

I see, I'm looking to set up a pay pal account (like in my journal) but i've heard some things about pay pal can freeze your account w.e they think you violate or have too much money in your account and all. If you can and willing please let me know, I'm looking to do commissions this year. Thanks!

I think they only freeze it if you something like sell panties or something. I haven't heard of a single account being frozen among my friends. I'm pretty sure if you use it for commissions you won't get in trouble.
